From the glamour of Cannes, Nice and the Côte d’Azur alongside the sparkling Mediterranean to the rustic charm and rugged beauty of the Brittany coast, from sophisticated Biarritz set beneath the stunning Pyrenees to the history, culture and romance of Paris – la belle France has something special to offer every visitor.
Whether you are tempted by the fabulous French cuisine, the world-famous wines, the beautiful châteaux or the cultural splendour of France’s cities and towns you will be seduced by this country of rich variety and contrasts.
Imagine yourself sipping a Pastis in a shady provençal café in a hilltop village as you watch the locals playing pétanques (boules), stretched out on a sandy beach as the Atlantic rolls in or strolling through a colourful marketplace surrounded by the aroma of lavender and fresh flowers.
France has pioneered high-speed rail travel with the TGV (train à grande vitesse) now an established part of everyday life. It is so easy to get around France and view the ever-changing scenery from the comfort and style of a train.
Thanks to the distinctive nature of every region you can experience dramatically different landscapes, architecture, dialects, culture and food as you journey through this magnificent country.
As promised a few more details/compliments from our holiday. As you would expect the journey to Venice was fantastic, from check in to seeing our fabulous hotel for the first time. The British Pullman was stunning and the service, food and hospitality wonderful. The first class coach was exactly that. The Orient Express was without question the best holiday experience we have ever had. From the moment we pulled alongside, we felt and were made to feel very special indeed. Predictably the food was amazing. All of the staff were attentive but not over the top. Our personal attendant was discreet and very professional, and he gave us some helpful advice on Venice.
The Al Ponte Antico hotel is quite simply the most friendly, calm, relaxing hotel we have ever stayed in. The staff were so generous with their advice on Venice, including booking all our restaurants for us. They certainly had the personal touch as they would call us by our Christian names….even the staff we hadn’t met before! If there is a better hotel in Venice, I’d love to see it. !
Montreux is a stunning place as was the hotel, a completely different experience again. The food at the Suisse Majestic was incredible, as was the view.
Can I say that all of your train arrangements were spot on and made our journey run very smoothly. All the trains were bang on time, very clean and new looking. Even the food on board the trains was rather good too.
Thanks again for helping us enjoy our 25th wedding anniversary, you did a fantastic job and as I said the other day we will certainly be telling family friends and clients about you…….. thanks to you all again.
